About Us
In 2009 the foundation for the first polytechnic in Jajpur district at JAJPUR ROAD was laid in the industrial hub of India in the state of Odisha surrounded with around 15 nos. of Steel plants such as TATA Steel, Jindal Steel, Mesco Steel, Nilanchal Ispat Nigam Ltd, Maithan Ispat, Rohit Steel etc. And other Industries like Emami Cement Ltd, JSW Cement & many more. The great need of a skill development institute was felt and considering this St Xavier’s Group of Institutions took an initiative and decided to start a polytechnic (Kalinga Institute of Engineering & Technology(KIET)) by noticing the technical inconvenience caused to the students of Odisha and nearby states and Jajpur Road, Jajpur in particular.
Having rich experience and success in the field of education past years, the management started its first Polytechnic in the name of KALINGA INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY that has fulfilled a long-felt need for higher technical education in this area. The Government of ODISHA has been pleased to grant Recognition and consequently SCTE & VT have accorded the Affiliation. The Institute has been approved from AICTE, New Delhi.
KIET, F.C. Project, Jajpur Road, Jajpur, Odisha has introduced Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) -360 intake and Master of Business Administration (MBA)-120 intake affiliated by Biju Patnaik University of Technology Government of Odisha and approved by AICTE, New Delhi, Government of India, the programmes for the first time from the Academic Session 2026–27 after obtaining the necessary approvals from the competent authorities.
For sure the institution is providing qualitative technical education to the children and will continue to provide the same. The students whose parents cannot afford to send their wards far away for higher studies are taken care properly to make them self-sufficient to find themselves absorbed in different companies /industries nearby and elsewhere. These activities are being taken care by providing them with adequate infrastructure, trained and experienced staff members appointed by the Institution after proper scrutiny as per DTE , BPUT & AICTE norms.

With this end in view, the Institution plans to leave no stone unturned to enrich the literate society with the technical knowhow necessary for establishment & running of various manufacturing units. The country in general & Jajpur Road locality in particular is rich with mineral resources which need proper utilisation. Consequently, there is a great need for qualified technicians and skilled personnel for the growing industrialisation. The Institute (KIET) therefore, plans to prepare a long panel of such personnel to make Country's mission of rapid Industrialisation successful. The extensive activities carried out by our Institution have developed the neighbourhood network. Healthy practices of customs and traditions to inculcate values among the student community. Active participation in extension outreach programmes exposes students to the modern method of work culture. Within a short-span of eleven years our college has become an instrument in providing access to higher education, need for the nearby industries for skilled workers and thereby, transforming the social fabric of the area.
